Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law!
These words received by Aleister Crowley in 1904 echo down the generations, asking us to question our actions, our true nature and in turn the very context of magickal expression and understanding within which the words themselves and Thelema became framed.
As the figures gather this night, sometime in the late 1950’s, the hustle and bustle of the London streets outside becomes eerily distant. The attendees seem a little on edge, looking from one to the other, noting the detail of robes and masks, of stature and movement. Something is not quite right. Even before the ritual begins it seems that another has joined them, that another walks amongst them unseen. It is the night of the New Moon and the darkness seems to have hidden the arrival of one both familiar and yet separated by decades, outside the restrictive circles of time.
Still they remain focused as the words are intoned and a small, Tibetan bell, sounded. Before them is their leader. Does the Master also sense that there is something different this evening, that a shade of the future walks amongst them even now, having admired the cut of his three-piece suit when he crossed the street outside? He hesitates for a moment, looking about the room and then continues.
Typhonian Rites of Amenta not only reveals the answer to this and other questions of a Nightside nature but gives details of the methods and mechanics associated with these rites. Whilst some may be familiar with the sigils of Aleister Crowley’s Liber Arcanorvm or Kenneth Grant’s Nightside of Eden, here they will find new cartographies and new ways of exploring the Tunnels of Choronzon-Set.
For as Dr. Plimer writes in the Introduction, “The questions Sean invites us to ask are: who were these brave esotericists, and who amongst us will retrieve and then continue this great work? The answer is given: the ‘Typhonians’, for it is we who bathe in the rites and light of that lunar sphere, utilizing the magick of the New Moon and that of the Nightside Tradition.”
Lavishly illustrated throughout by the author, the book includes his exclusive new album Typhonis, with the signature ritual musick tracks, Ilyarun and Aossic.
